Route 50 through Dundee runs straight past golden arches and gas stations, but the real eating happens when you turn off the main drag. Locals know the short hop to Ida beats the chain drive-thru every time, and the pickle-burger at Ye Olde Cock n Bull is worth planning your festival day around.

This list runs the full spectrum: polished steakhouses where they wheel out Louis XIII cognac, and smoky roadhouses where the brisket bark cracks just right. I ate my way through both ends and everything between.

The fries at Smokey’s needed no ketchup. Here’s where you should be spending your appetite.
